9 July 2020 (Thursday), 12:00 – 13:45 UTC

Organized by:
The IAEA’s Incident and Emergency Centre

( Deadline for Registration: July 8, 2020. Register for webinar here )

Background:
To reduce the impact of a nuclear or radiological emergency, it is necessary for the experts involved to be adequately and continuously trained. In addition to their normal duties, medical physicists (MPs) employed in hospitals may also be involved in providing support to a response to nuclear or radiological emergencies. There is a lack of specific training for MPs in the area of emergency preparedness and response (EPR) to nuclear or radiological emergencies.

Objectives:
The purpose of the webinar is to help MPs contribute to the management of nuclear or radiological emergencies in an efficient and coordinated manner. This webinar will cover topics featured in just published IAEA EPR series publication EPR-Medical Physicists 2020.

Target Audience:
The main intended audience for this webinar is MPs working at hospitals or related to the dose assessment of individuals, but not limited to. Thus, it is also intended to other healthcare professionals that might be interested in the different roles that MP may play during preparedness and response to nuclear or radiological emergencies. It may also be used by organizations and individuals involved in radiation protection, EPR, regulation and public health aspects.

Working Language:
The Webinar will be held in English.
