Dear Colleagues, Friends, and Members of the Medical Physics Community,
On the occasion of the International Day of Medical Physics 2026, I am honored to extend my warm greetings to medical physicists, students, researchers, educators, and healthcare professionals throughout the Asia-Oceania region and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Advancing Global Health Equity: The Ethical Foundation of Medical Physics,” reminds us that our profession is ultimately about people. While we work with sophisticated technologies, complex dosimetry, advanced imaging systems, and innovative treatment techniques, our true mission is to ensure that every patient benefits from safe, effective, and high-quality healthcare, regardless of geography, economic status, or social circumstance.
Health equity cannot be achieved by technology alone. It requires commitment, collaboration, and a shared vision of a world where access to quality diagnosis, treatment, and radiation protection is available to all. Medical physicists are uniquely positioned to bridge gaps in healthcare by promoting quality assurance, supporting education and training, strengthening professional capacity, and driving innovation that is accessible and sustainable.
Across the Asia-Oceania region, we witness remarkable advances in healthcare alongside significant disparities in resources and access. These challenges call upon us to work together, share knowledge, mentor future generations, and support colleagues and institutions that serve populations with limited resources. Every effort to improve safety, strengthen quality, and expand expertise contributes directly to a more equitable healthcare system.
As we celebrate IDMP 2026, let us reaffirm our dedication to the ethical values that underpin our profession: excellence, integrity, inclusiveness, and service to humanity. Let us continue to ensure that the benefits of medical physics reach every patient who needs them, regardless of where they live.
Together, we can build a future in which scientific advancement and social responsibility move forward hand in hand.
Wishing you a meaningful and inspiring International Day of Medical Physics 2026.
