IDMP Award: International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP)


The IDMP awards are given by IOMP every year since from 2015 to recognize the outstanding contribution of a medical physicist towards Medical Physics with a particular view of promoting education, awareness, development of medical physics to a larger audience and for its overall on patient care. The IDMP awards are awarded on the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP).

The IDMP Award consists of an IOMP certificate, and additionally a short biography of the awardees will be published in the IOMP Newsletter Medical Physics World.

Following Medical Physicists are awarded IDMP award by IOMP form AFOMP region for their excellent multidimensional contribution towards development of Medical Physics which include education, awareness and clinical practices.

IDMP 2019

Prof. Eva Bezak, PhD, FACPSEM is a Professor in Medical Radiations at the University of South Australia and Director of Translational Cancer Research at the Cancer Research Institute, University of South Australia. Previously she was a Chief Physicist at Department of Medical Physics, Royal Adelaide Hospital, providing services to radiation oncology in South Australia (SA).

She lectures on various topics in nuclear and radiation oncology medical physics and radiation biology. Her current research topics include: investigation of second primary cancers risks due to radiotherapy, radiobiology, modelling of tumour growth, novel dosimetry and micro dosimetry techniques for verification of patient doses, proton therapy modelling, targeted therapies and others.

She is currently the Vice President, Asia- Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP)

IDMP 2018

Prof. Hasin Anupama Azhari, is corrently working as a Dean, Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Professor & Chairman of Dept of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (MPBME) Gono Bishwabidyalay (University), Savar Dhaka,Bangladesh.

Her contribution towards medical physics education and training is enormous in AFOMP region. She also bear responsibility as CEO, South Asia Centre for Medical Physics and Cancer Research(SCMPCR) and Secretary General Asia- Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP)

Dr. Howell Round, Secretary General, AFOMP

IDMP 2017

Prof. Howell Round is retired from School of Engineering, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. He has served on various important positions like Secretary General IUPESM, Secretary General AFOMP, and President ACPSEM.

His major work involves recommendations about Policy making on professional matters, workforce issues, education and training, for AFOMP region is remarkable. His contribution towards framing professional system in AFOMP region is outstanding and fruit giving.

IDMP 2016

Prof. Arun Chougule has 35 years of experience as a Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer. He currently is working as Dean of Student Welfare; Rajasthan University of Health Sciences [RUHS].He is serving on various important positions of international repute like President AFOMP, Chair of Scientific Committee AFOMP and Chair ETC IOMP.

His contribution towards education & training, radiation safety and professionally highlighting the role of medical physicist in healthcare is remarkable. Due to his untiring efforts medical physicist professional reorganization as improved significantly.

IDMP 2015

Dr. Tomas Kron is Director of Physical Sciences at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne and as Professorial Fellow in Wollongong University, Australia.

He was also awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to medicine, research and education. He has an interest in dosimetry of ionizing radiation, image guided radiotherapy and clinical trials as a tool to introduce technology.

His contribution towards teaching, training and research is remarkable and significant
