Greetings from the AFOMP Professional Relations Committee (PRC)!
It gives me great pleasure to connect with the AFOMP medical physics community through this issue of AFOMP Pulse. The PRC remains committed to strengthening professional relationships, fostering collaboration across the Asia–Oceania region, and creating opportunities for medical physicists to learn, connect, and grow together.
One of the highlights of 2026 was the International Medical Physics Week (IMPW) 2026 celebrations, held on 25–26 April 2026, bringing together the Presidents of AFOMP Member Organizations in a special series of sessions. The participation of leaders from across the region provided a unique platform to reflect on the growth of medical physics, share perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing our profession, and strengthen the spirit of collaboration and solidarity within the AFOMP community. The enthusiastic participation of the Presidents made these celebrations particularly meaningful and demonstrated the strength and diversity of medical physics across the Asia–Oceania region.
As we strive forward for excellence in medical physics and professional competiveness, AFOMP PRC is trying to reach out to all medical physicists in the region to support and collaborate for the betterment of each one’s professional pursuits. Please feel free to reach out at prc.afomp@gmail.com.
AFOMP has LinkedIn, Twitter (X), Facebook and Bluesky accounts and a YouTube channel through which AFOMP activities, medical physics news etc. are shared. Follow the accounts to keep ourselves updated with the AFOMP educational and professional activities.
As we look ahead, I am particularly delighted to invite all AFOMP members and colleagues to AOCMP 2026, to be held in Busan, South Korea, from 9–11 September 2026. This congress will be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues from across the region, exchange scientific and professional knowledge, explore emerging developments in medical physics, and strengthen the networks that make our AFOMP community so vibrant.
I strongly encourage our National Member Organizations, senior medical physicists, early-career professionals, researchers, educators, and students to take this opportunity to be part of AOCMP 2026. Beyond the scientific programme, such gatherings remind us of the importance of professional fellowship and regional collaboration. Let us come together in Busan, not only to share knowledge, but also to celebrate our profession, strengthen friendships, build new collaborations, and shape the future of medical physics in the Asia–Oceania region.
