“Beyond Precision through Intelligent Innovation for Advanced Patient Care”
On behalf of the Korean Society of Medical Physics (KSMP) and the entire Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure and privilege to invite the AFOMP community to the 26th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP 2026), to be held from 9 to 11 September 2026 in the beautiful coastal city of Busan, Republic of Korea. Hosted by KSMP under the auspices of AFOMP and IOMP, AOCMP 2026 will bring together medical physicists, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners from across the Asia-Oceania region and beyond.
Under the theme “Beyond Precision through Intelligent Innovation for Advanced Patient Care,” the Congress explores how artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies are reshaping medical physics – advancing our discipline from precision toward truly intelligent, patient-centered care. Over three days, delegates will share the latest advances and forge new collaborations across the region.
A Rich Scientific Program
The scientific program features three distinguished keynote speakers – Prof. Tomas Kron (Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australia), Prof. Seungryong Cho (KAIST, Korea), and Dr. Taku Inaniwa (NIRS/QST, Japan) – together with 28 invited speakers across a broad spectrum of clinical and research topics. The program spans parallel scientific sessions in radiation therapy and radiological physics, an Advanced Technology track, multidisciplinary and satellite (luncheon) symposia, selected oral presentations, and an e-poster exhibition, complemented by a comprehensive industrial exhibition showcasing the latest technologies.
Education & Hands-on Training
A dedicated education program offers practical, high-impact learning. It opens with a FLASH keynote and lecture series – “FLASH Therapy: Biology, Physics, and the Path to the Clinic” – surveying one of the most exciting frontiers in radiation oncology. Delegates can also take part in hands-on treatment-planning training and Plan Practice sessions using leading commercial RTP systems, including Varian, Elekta, and TomoTherapy platforms – a valuable opportunity for early-career physicists to build practical planning skills directly with vendor systems.
Signature Sessions & Networking
AOCMP 2026 will host several flagship activities organized in partnership with AFOMP. The Young Medical Physicists Network Meeting (AFOMP) and the Women in Medical Physics session provide focused forums for the next generation and for advancing diversity and leadership in our field, alongside the Young Investigator Competition. The Congress will also host the IMPCB certification examination on 10 September and the presentation of AFOMP awards – among them the Inamura Orator and Lifetime Achievement Awards – celebrating excellence and service across our federation. The AFOMP ExCom Meeting will also convene during the Congress.

Busan, Korea’s dynamic second city, offers a spectacular setting where mountains meet the sea. Beyond the venue, delegates can enjoy pristine beaches, vibrant seafood markets, temples, and warm Korean hospitality. The city is also home to a state-of-the-art heavy-ion therapy center, reflecting the theme of innovation that runs throughout the Congress. A highlight of the social program will be a Gala Dinner aboard a cruise ship, set against Busan’s glittering night skyline with fireworks and live performances – a truly memorable evening of fellowship. Together with a Welcome Reception and excellent international access via Gimhae International Airport, AOCMP 2026 promises to be both scientifically rewarding and unforgettable.
