Aim of Science Committee

The AFOMP Science Committee (SC) aims to promote the academic advancement and scientific development of medical physics within the Asia–Oceania region.

The Committee serves as a scientific advisory and coordinating body that supports the Executive Committee and member organizations of AFOMP through the following key roles:

Key Roles:

1. Scientific Advisory Role

Provide expert scientific advice and recommendations to the AFOMP Executive Committee to guide strategic planning and policy development related to scientific activities.

2. Promotion of Research Collaboration

Facilitate and strengthen collaborative research initiatives among AFOMP member organizations, fostering cross-border exchange of knowledge, methodologies, and technologies.

3. Liaison with Other Regional Organizations

Liaise and collaborate with other IOMP regional organizations, as appropriate, to harmonize scientific standards and promote joint initiatives that enhance global medical physics development.

4. Support for Scientific Meetings

Contribute to the scientific planning and execution of the Asia–Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) and other AFOMP-endorsed conferencesif neededby closely collaborating with local organizing committees (LOCs).

5. Development of Academic and Scientific Resources

Support other AFOMP committees in the development of position papers and scientific documents.

6. Quality Assurance in Scientific Dissemination

Review manuscripts, technical reports, and educational materials to ensure scientific rigor, ethical integrity, and alignment with AFOMP’s mission and international standards.

7. Inter-Committee and International Collaboration

Cooperate with other AFOMP committees—such as the Education and Training Committee and the Professional Relations Committee—as well as with international bodies, particularly the IOMP Science Committee and other regional federations, to promote coherent and sustainable scientific development.

8. Scientific Evaluation and Grant Review

Participate in the evaluation of scientific proposals, research grants, and award nominations to ensure the quality, originality, and impact of research supported within the AFOMP framework.
